Recent app update changed the way you can view the episode. You can’t rotate it to get the large viewing. You just get the single little viewing which makes it difficult with the kids sharing the phone.

I’ve been a parent for 6 years and for most of those 6 years I can say that one of the things that has made my life easier is this app. And it has remained constant in a world full of unnecessary changes. But unfortunately PBS kids has decided they can’t leave well enough alone A few mornings ago when my daughter woke up in the 5 o clock hour I decided I needed a bit more sleep and I would let her watch her favorite PBS show on my phone. Groggy and with eyes half shut it should have been like autopilot but when I opened my app I figured I opened the wrong one. I opened it again and realized it had all changed. First- the orientation is different? Why? Landscape makes more sense because that is how shows are viewed. It is confusing to find anything. My kids used to be able to navigate the app and now it’s not even user friendly for me. When I select a show, one starts playing instantly. Very inconvenient as most kids like to pick their episode. Then when you pick your episode you have to make sure you screen orientation is unlocked so the show can be viewed in full screen. I’m all for change when it makes sense. In my house I always tell my kids we don’t say hate so I’ll just say I really really don’t like these changes. I’m begging you to go back to the original. I would be happy to change my review to 5 stars after that but this app just doesn’t make sense! You had something clear and streamlined and user-friendly. Now you have a jumbled mess.

Good video’s but can’t get them downloaded

Im 13 but omg it’s such a time killer i went for a 4hour drive and I didn’t even notice perfect for kids and adults i think you should add the option to download everything but great work!

When I updated this app, it became very difficult to play a video I pick because of a video automatically playing prevented the video of my choice from playing. It’s like an interruption. Could you please fix this app so I can play the video of my choice? Thanks.

I used to be able to disable touch and turn on Guided Access and the show would continue playing. Now, when you turn on Guided Access, it pauses the show and you have to press play which means you cannot disable touch. I loved how I could have my kid focus on one show instead of jumping to something new every couple of minutes, but that is no longer an option

I was so excited for the new update thinking it could only get better. Boy was I wrong. 1. The auto play feature on the front page? Terrible. You can’t even mute it or pause it. 2. The show selection icons are too small for littles. Personally I’m able to figure it out, but when sitting with my little one it’s very confusing. The “Picks of the Week” is obnoxious, and “whats new, get ready for summer etc” take up too much screen space and makes it so much harder to select the show you want. PBS Kids used to be great, and I hope something will change- because this update is not it. 3. Chromecast is no longer available? So the only option is airplay, in which the app has to be open and running on the iPad/ phone in order to work. You can’t navigate away from the screen. It’s horrible.

I cannot believe you got rid of the original look of the PBS Kids video app and replaced it with a new one with no warning! How come you got rid of the old one?! Will the original look of the PBS Kids video app be gone forever?!?!? PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSEEEEEE bring the old look back and get rid of the current one for good ASAP!!!!!!!!!!

Really good app but could use more brain rot and has way too many ads for my children and it makes them have a meltdown every ads it’s actually annoying when they watch the videos

The splash screen is brighter than the sun and louder than a rocket launch. It is entirely superfluous and I should not have to remember to mute my phone to open an app.

When I try to download some videos for the car, it won’t let me download them. I’ve tried every thing, and it would work!!!☹️😑😑😥😞😞😞😞😞😞😞😞 I have done research on it and it still won’t work. And I have WIFI to do it.

It takes to long for new videos to come out

Now with the new pbs kids app i cannot connect it to the tv like before. They keep on removing the shows that my child like. So no when I want to connect it to the tv you can’t. I only gave it 2 stars since you can download the videos otherwise that it would have been one star.

My kids LOVE this game

I loved the PBS kids video app for my toddler as all the shows are appropriate and he could bounce between different shows as his attention span allowed. However this new format is NOT kid friendly. Being able to just scroll through some pictures on the side to find the right show is much more toddler friendly. Now he gets stuck on one show and gets very frustrated. Hopefully a new update will come out soon allowing us to switch back. Please please please switch back.

I hate this apps new layout it’s so confusing and weird.

I don't know why but it is not working and Continueously says error and (-1200) idk what that means but I just know I am trying to enjoy my childhood shows and it will not let me.

So i really like this app because it doesn’t have inappropriate stuff on it and it’s also really entertaining and kid friendly.

The latest version is not good for kids with limited fine motor. My son with autism used to love this app and now he tries it but just gets frustrated. It is too hard to reach the top left corner to exit what he wants to watch and go to a new video. Once he is in the main page he chooses something and then stuck there!!The new version main page is just too busy. The previous versions had a section on the right side where you could scroll up/down and was so much easier to navigate. Remember this is a kids app, and should be kids friendly and special needs friendly. PBS is so good with inclusion, everyone matters!!! This was the only app he could navigate independently and now I have to help him constantly and he won’t even be able to ask for what he wants because he is not verbal. Please, take in consideration my feedback. I am sure there are more moms going through the same situation. Thanks!!

It’s free and teaches kids how to be nice except for D.W on Arthur but I love PBS kids and d.w you can learn about the Philippians dishes and celebrations also PBS kids games are fun too!

I would love to give this five stars. This has audio description, which not a lot of apps have. However, there are a lot of unlabeled buttons, and it’s hard to navigate this application with VoiceOver, Apple screen reader. I would be very happy to assist invaded testing, if you would like that. Thank you so much for putting audio description in your app.

I’m trying to find a movie I was trying and trying, but I couldn’t find it even though I just watched it yesterday

We LOVED the PBS kids app until this new version came out. It was the only kid friendly app that was easy to navigate for littles. It used to take two steps to find a show, pick the character, select an episode. Now when the app loads, there’s a collection of things to pick from, and for kids you end up in a sea of random kids. Personally, I feel this new version of the app is very out of touch with its audience. It’s too hard for them. A real test will be giving them the app in a rear facing car seat and see if they can navigate to a show.

Sooo many kids love this app I do to but one thing is it’s not offline and I think it’s not very fun if you can’t play it anywhere just a suggestion have a great day and week!

I love watching my favorite show in 2015 - 2025 is Nature Cat.

A recent update has changed the app so it can only broadcast to a TV while the app is open and active on the phone. App is near worthless now.

I been watching this from day one I wish the pbs company the best of luck thank you for making my childhood awesome I was sad when I heard trump was going to defund pbs kids because I have been watching it all my life it will be sad that a lot of other kids won’t get to experience this

There are not new episodes often so I have to re watch them. BORING

Autoplay. WHY??? Can’t stop Daniel Tiger from blasting into our house. Why is thete no off button on the autoplay? Can’t cast once a video is already playing, have to go back to the Home Screen only to encounter….. autoplay Daniel Tiger! You broke sonething tha was fine to begin with.

I learned English from shows, PBS kids offered

PBS Kids just updated but it’s something going wrong. I don’t see expired from downloads because I just wanna check and why they just update it so fast that make me so angry. Also, please bring old PBS Kids back right now. If you don’t do it, I will tell Donald Trump.

My daughter has special needs and the new app is more difficult because of the tiny arrows and lay out. The old version was better for her because this new update isn’t user friendly for kiddos who have more difficult time learning with special needs. I wish I could undo the update so my daughter can go back to enjoying the app. She loves it!

This update is absolutely awful and difficult to navigate! My son will never be able to learn/adjust. A true unwelcome life changer in my household! I sent an email to PBS the day it happened. Haven’t heard a word. Very disappointing on so many levels.

The new update looks nice but my autistic child loves watching the Word of the Week videos and those don’t seem to be on here now. She doesn’t understand why I can’t fix it. Please help!

So I recently updated the app, and now it looks terrible! Even though I can still navigate the app, I don’t see how a 4-year old could find their favorite shows within this new interface. It looks a lot like the website now, and I don’t like it! To be honest, when I first saw the change, I was so upset that I decided to stop watching PBS KIDS altogether. Besides, I’m already too old for ‘Work It Out Wombats’. Expect me to be writing reviews on ‘The Amazing World of Gumball’ and other great shows for older kids from now on. I don’t hate PBS KIDS by the way. I’m just giving my own opinion on the new look. Keep on doing your thing, PBS!

(Updated to 3 stars. If they can fix the full screen playback issue, will make 5 stars. Web version works great, app is not as good as the web. You can tap the video to play on the web, but app you have to hit the really small triangle on the bottom) The old app my kids have been using for years was great and easy to use. The new one functions like the website and is way worse than the old early 2025 and earlier version. This new one is hard to find shows, hard to pause and play videos. The button is so small at the bottom, and now you have to click a little x to exit. Old version felt like it was made for tablets and iPhones, but the new one feels like the website which is clunky even with a mouse. Please please please go back to the version before May 2025. I wish I had not auto updated. So sad. Great content bad App now.
